Tulani Kinard, former member of Sweet Honey in the Rock, once wrote a verse referencing Amadou Diallo. She will soon write another addressing Trayvon Martin in support of outrage and activism.
We love how she adapted “Strange Fruit” for victims of police brutality. Zimmerman wasn’t a cop, he was a wannabe cop, who killed a young unarmed man. How tragic is it that this song still resonates?
